that is the way things once were…

The first to tell, the first to ask, the first to share… 

the first and last… to laugh…

familial stories shared over troubles and joys

answers and understanding shared in search of 

answers and understanding;

now disturbing silences fills a void once full.

A once joyful ruckus beaten into submission

Muzzled… muted, sanitized and stilled

the link corroded...

and strangers are all that’s left

to issue uncomforting words of welcome and invitation

to a return to oblivion…solitude…exile.
